The Ride MAINE TO KEY WEST Tenn-I-see! s4e4
After a while, ride up skyline Drive to the Appalachian Trail campgrounds, I hit the road in Ernest. Little did I know that horizons unlimited was having a meeting right down the street and that I would meet a bunch of really cool folks on BMWs as well. I went from being the only 1250 GS adventure around to being surrounded by a bunch of friends.
The temperature continues to climb as we head south. This journey takes us down to Jonesboro, Tennessee.

Yes, as you can see in the thumbnail I did stop at a Starbucks on my BMW 1250 GS adventure. I know, y...

Super bright, with the sunshade and handlebar mounts included, I don't e...

Had to do about 30 miles in the black on a stretch of N. Georgia mtn fire roads. Super Sketchy. Ended up investing in some helmet lights I throw in my backpack. May want to look into it. Outbound lightning and Cyclops both make one that attached via action camera mount Of course you stopped at Starbucks, isn't it required by law if you own a GS? Just like a KTM is required to give you constant anxiety about unknown gremlins popping up mid ride.

Not sure why you wored this service from the right side of the bike? You know ... the removal of the oil filter is done from the left side of the bike. That does not require removal of any other component (oil cooler line) because you can just pull the filter out with no obstacles.

Big Meadows is 51 miles in - seeing your clock at 7:35pm I knew you wouldn’t make it before dark - recreation.gov - make reservations. I think the same family you had last year was next to us this year. Campground was packed. It was hotels for the next 3 nights.

Seriously? Who would in their right mind ride these things for more than 45 min? There is reason people prefer the Harley v twins despite of their heating and other issues. Harley can be mastered using aftermarket and than they are the best flippin bike ever that rides for hours and hours painlessly, and mannnnn those forward controls are heaven

I'm a 6'4"/ 260lbs guy with a T-100. I love it but I am considering stepping up to the XE. I'm not a big off road guy, spending most of my time on paved mountain roads in the Hudson valley area of NY. Very little highway miles. Curious of your thoughts on this possible move. Also looking at the '24 X model, but I am really attracted to the XE tall seat height.

I got a '22 XR a little over a year ago and I couldn't be happier. I've been riding for over 60 years, have had a lot of bikes, from Honda to Yamaha to Kawasaki to Harley to KTM. Street, dirt, chopper, ADV. This is the most fun I've ever had on a bike. You're right, at 4 grand you better be pointed in the right direction and holding on if you twist the throttle, 'cause you will be accelerating big time. Only thing I didn't like about the bike is the seat, it pushes you into the gas tank and is just uncomfortable on longer rides. Upgraded the seat, got a taller windscreen (I'm 6'4"), added an extension to the bottom of the front fender and an oil cooler protection screen. I lust after the new M1000XR, but really this bike is more than I can handle. Probably my last bike before I have to quit riding. There were only 2 bikes on my radar when I got this one, the XR and Ducati Multi Pikes Peak. I saved $10K and a lot of service issues going with the XR. Fantastic machine.

the red ring tells you if the oil level is between low and high respectively. Make sure to run the bike up to temp and shut it off, let it sit for 1 minute on the center stand, and then check, for the most accurate reading.

I’ve just bought mine last April and it is already breaking in, had the 1000 kms service and now it’s good for all kind of rides. I weigh 100kgs maybe I should ask the mechanics to see the suspension, but except some light off roading I will remain on the asphalt and for that purpose I imagine that the stock setting of the suspension will be enough once I fell the bike’s behavior very stable and well balanced for the road. I didn’t have it decated but after the warranty period I think I will do it. Thanks for the nice video👌🏻

Mine was disappointingly slow from new but having carefully run it in i serviced it at 1200 miles and started to use it with a bit more intent and to be honest its still getting better at 1600 miles and is pretty peppy on all but the fastest roads , it’s restricted electronically to just over 70 mph but having worked out how its restricted i seen a whisker under 90 so will be chasing that rainbow as in making a tidy and professional job of it if i cant find a pro re map for it though i suspect that once sales have started to slow we should see people start to come to market with a re chip for them

Hell i have 21 only 1500 miles. Literally just put one of those 480cca antigravity batteries in tonight. Seemed to help. But let it sit for like 20 minutes amd bam same sluggish start eith the whirring. Taking to Pocono mtn HD this sunday june 16th. Already fighting me about ciz have a power vision 4 tuner. Whicj has notjing to do with it. Harley can't say it's normal when there's dealers on UA-cam saying how they've upgraded as each year went by. If thats normal why did they update parts as each year came out. Have a rgs as well luckily. Sucks because upside down on this bike do to bike not holding any value. So they're blowong me off already and red flagged me forbtiner. I know I'm going to get screwed this week.

Great bike, a real keeper. I have a 1973 XLH. One point of disagreement however. Maybe, I suppose in today's light the Sportster is considered a cruiser although technically, it's not. Originally, they were designed to be raced. The foot pegs and controls are not forward which typifies a "cruiser". They were one of the fastest production bikes of their era, one of the first true sport bikes, hence the name Sportster. The big twin bros were jealous of the smaller, faster and better handling Sporties and started to call them girl bikes, etc. I've owned big twins (namely shovelheads) and for me, the sporties are much more fun to ride. I also believe the Sportster is the second longest running model in motorcycle history. Great video!!!

Not to mention all my tools, mechanic, and Carpenter tools. It's probably a $ 100,000 lose. Which insurance will pay only a fraction of that. Interesting, the only thing I cared about, was my Dad's truck. Utterly Devastating!!!😪
